Eyeliner tattoo (Classic) right after tattooing by Kalie's Brows and Beauty in Sydney.

What is Classic Eyeliner?

Classic eyeliner tattoo is a semi-permanent cosmetic technique that enhances the natural shape and definition of your eyes by creating the appearance of a perfectly applied eyeliner.

Artists use a permanent makeup machine to deposit pigment, creating a crisp, defined line that enhances your eyes' natural beauty and reduces the need for makeup.

Resulting in a precise, natural-looking line that can be customized to match the client's preferred look, from subtle to bold.

Kalie ensures a safe process with custom pigments matched to your skin tone and undertone (or you can choose the colour), using top-quality brands like Perma Blend, renowned for over 30 years in permanent makeup inks.

Classic eyeliner tattoos result in a beautifully defined eyeliner that lasts 1-3 years. A touch-up after 4-6 weeks and yearly touch-ups are recommended to help secure pigment retention and achieve your desired look.

Eyeliner healing proccess by Kalie's Brows & Beauty in Auburn Sydney. With many years in the permanent makeup industry Kalie explains the stages your eyeliner will go through.
Who is not suitable for eyeliner tattoo?

• Pregnant or Nursing: Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid eyeliner tattoos due to potential risks. • Blood Disorders: Individuals with bleeding disorders or who take blood thinners may experience complications with healing. • Eye Infections: Those with active eye infections or conditions like conjunctivitis should wait until fully healed. • Skin Conditions: People with eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis around the eyes are not suitable for the procedure. • Allergies to Pigments: Clients with known allergies to cosmetic pigments or tattoo ink should avoid eyeliner tattoos. • Keloid Scarring: If prone to keloid scarring, this procedure may not be suitable due to the risk of raised scars. • Recent Eye Surgery: Those who have had recent eye surgery or procedures like LASIK should wait at least 6 months. • Autoimmune Disorders: Individuals with autoimmune conditions affecting skin healing may not be ideal candidates.

Pre appointment instructions

• No Eye Makeup: Arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes to ensure a sterile environment for the procedure. • Avoid Caffeine: Refrain from consuming caffeine on the day of your appointment to reduce sensitivity. • No Contact Lenses: Remove contact lenses before your appointment and bring glasses to wear after the procedure. • Discontinue Lash Serums: Stop using lash growth serums at least two weeks prior to avoid increased skin sensitivity. • Avoid Lash Extensions: Remove any eyelash extensions at least 3 days before the procedure to ensure a clear working area. • No Blood Thinners: Avoid blood-thinning medications, like aspirin or ibuprofen, for 24-48 hours before the appointment. • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water leading up to the appointment to keep the skin hydrated and help with healing. • Plan for Downtime: Be prepared for potential swelling or irritation, and plan accordingly for rest after the procedure.

Immediate aftercare (when you get home)

• Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching or rubbing your eyes to prevent irritation or infection. • Apply Healing Ointment: Gently apply the recommended healing ointment to keep the area moisturised and promote healing. • No Water on the Area: Keep the tattooed area dry and avoid getting it wet for the first 24-48 hours. • Avoid Eye Makeup: Do not apply any eye makeup for at least a week to prevent infection and irritation. • No Scrubbing: Avoid scrubbing or exfoliating the eye area during the healing process. • Use Clean Pillowcases: Sleep on a clean pillowcase to avoid bacteria and help prevent infection. • Avoid Sun Exposure: Keep the area out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds to prevent pigment fading. • No Sweating: Avoid activities that cause heavy sweating, such as exercise, for at least a week to prevent moisture in the area.

Aftercare for the next 4-6 weeks

• Keep the Area Moisturised: Continue applying the recommended healing ointment as directed to prevent dryness. • Avoid Sun Exposure: Use sunglasses and sunscreen around the eyes to protect the pigment from fading. • No Picking or Scratching: Let any scabbing or flaking occur naturally; do not pick at the healing skin. • Avoid Eye Makeup: Refrain from applying eye makeup until the area is fully healed to prevent irritation. • No Lash Treatments: Avoid lash lifts, tints, or extensions for at least 4 weeks to protect the healing skin. • Limit Water Exposure: Be cautious when washing your face, keeping water and cleansers away from the tattooed area. • Avoid Facials and Saunas: Steer clear of facials, saunas, or any activity that involves heat or steam until fully healed. • Plan Touch-Up: Schedule a follow-up appointment after 4-6 weeks to perfect the colour and shape if necessary.

What to expect from the healing process

• Initial Swelling: Expect mild swelling around the eyes for the first 1-2 days after the procedure. • Darkness of Colour: The eyeliner will initially appear darker than the final result and will fade over the healing period. • Scabbing: Some clients may experience light scabbing or flaking as the skin heals, which is normal. • Itching: Mild itching may occur during the healing process, but it's important to avoid scratching. • Uneven Colour: The colour may look uneven or patchy at first, but this will improve as healing progresses. • Duration of Healing: The healing process typically lasts about 4 weeks, during which the true colour will emerge. • Sensitivity: The area may feel sensitive or tight, especially in the first week, which is expected. • Final Appearance: The final result will be visible after about 4-6 weeks, revealing a softer, more natural look.

Important reminders for your eyeliner tattoo

• Consultation is Key: Schedule a consultation to discuss your desired look, colour, and any concerns before the procedure. • Patch Test: Consider a patch test for allergies to pigments or numbing agents to ensure safety. • Healing Takes Time: Be patient; complete healing can take up to 4 weeks, and the final result may differ from the initial appearance. • Follow Aftercare Instructions: Adhere strictly to aftercare guidelines to ensure optimal healing and colour retention. • Regular Touch-Ups: Plan for touch-ups every 1-3 years, depending on your skin type and lifestyle, to maintain the look. • Avoid Rushing the Process: Allow adequate time for healing and adjustments before scheduling any follow-up appointments. • Stay Informed: Ask your technician any questions you have before or after the procedure for peace of mind. • Protect Your Investment: Avoid excessive sun exposure and harsh products to prolong the life of your eyeliner tattoo.
