Medium distance shot of uneven, unshaped brows resulting in shaped, defined and full brows after Microshading tattoo by Kalie.

What is Microshading?

Microshading is a semi-permanent tattoo technique that creates a soft, powdered effect like Ombre Powder Brows but mimics the look of filled-in eyebrows with makeup.

Artists use a digital or hand-held machine to apply tiny dots of pigment to the upper layers of the skin. This method is less invasive than microblading and is suitable for any skin type but particularly sensitive or oily skin.

Kalie ensures a safe process with custom pigments matched to your skin tone and undertone (or you can choose the colour), using top-quality brands like Perma Blend, renowned for over 30 years in permanent makeup inks.

Microshading results in flawless, makeup-like brows lasting 1-3 years. A touch-up after 4-6 weeks secures pigment retention, and yearly touch-ups are necessary to maintain your desired look.

Immediate aftercare (when you get home)

Aftercare for the next 4-6 weeks

- Protect your eyebrows from direct sun exposure, use a hat or apply sunscreen once the area is fully healed. - Refrain from using tanning beds to prevent color fading. Avoid using exfoliants, retinol, or glycolic acid near the treated area. - Cleanse the area gently with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. - Apply a gentle moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. - Do not apply makeup directly on the eyebrows until fully healed. - Do not pick, scratch, or rub the treated area to prevent scarring or infection. - Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments near the treated area. - Refrain from activities that cause excessive sweating, like intense workouts or hot yoga. - Avoid any mechanical exfoliation or rough handling of the treated area. - Monitor the area for any signs of infection or adverse reactions, and contact your artist if needed.

What to expect from the healing process

Day 1-2: Expect redness and swelling, with eyebrows appearing darker and bolder than expected. Day 3-7: Scabbing and flaking will occur, accompanied by itchiness; avoid picking or scratching. Week 2-3: The color will lighten and may look patchy or uneven as new skin forms. Week 4-6: The colour stabilises, revealing the true shade, and a touch-up appointment will address any pigment fading.
